Groupon? Paycloud? What?

Wow!  Just when I downloaded Groupon on my iphone this past weekend to take advantage of the fabulous offer by Woodmere’s Phil The Fire Restaurant, (that was such an amazing meal!!) I see this article today about another great platform.  Sparkbase, is connecting with local merchants and consumers in Cleveland to promote its service and offer discounts, reward cards and store coupons on a local basis.

Check out the article here and if you want to download the mobile app, the link is reflected in the article and it’s also in the App Store on your device.  I want to check it out and think I’ll download it now.  What’s one more app on my phone, right?

Thanks CoolCleveland.com for keeping us in the know!  Get ready to get your deals on!

We All Can Use A Pal

Before I jump into the article I wanted to share with you, let me say…….I finally did it!  I’ve been “in love” with my Blackberry for about 10 years.  We were extremely close, but then it started to fail me, let me down.  I remember being in Columbus, OH trying to find a restaurant (due to hunger, I was at the point where the noise my stomach was making sounded like a lion) and when my daughter used the device to do some searches and seek some assistance with directions, etc., the phone just keep scrolling!  How annoying……anyway I’m the happy owner of the iPhone 4.  Not the ‘S”, just the 4 and I’m totally a happy camper.  Now on to the article……

I know we use our mobile devices in multiple ways and that’s the beauty of them.  Get caught up on World news, find out what’s happening in your Social Network, look up a recipe to make a great meal, find a business, etc.  This morning I saw this interesting article about PayPal and wanted to share.  Let us hear from you!  Are you part of the PayPal mobile growth?

Linkmedia 360 hosted the latest in a series of free informational webinars on Thursday, December 8, 2011 entitled “What is that bar coded box? An introduction to QR Codes”    Linkmedia 360’s managing partner, Dave Wolf was the presenter for this very informative presentation. QR codes can now be found everywhere from magazine and yellow pages ads to tags on products such as bananas or ketchup! The little bar coded box can be a great source for giving product information digitally to being a basis for a promotion-based advertising campaign. Accessing the information in the QR Code can easily be done via a scanning application via a smartphone.

Some key take-aways from the webinar are:

  1. A QR Code campaign gives insight to consumer demographics and geography. This allows the advertiser to assess the performance of print media campaigns.
  2. A managed QR Code solution allows easy access to change landing pages and advertising campaigns
  3. A QR Code advertising solution leverages and extends the value of print advertising.

Thanks again to Dave Wolf for presenting for this month’s webinar! Thanks to everyone that registered and attended the webinar!  Join us in January when Stefan Muirhead will discuss website redesign.     Keep an eye out on our blog, and Facebook, Twitter and Google + pages in the next month for more information and an invitation!

Google+ vs Facebook. It’s on!

Mark Zuckerberg referred to Google+ as Google’s “own little Facebook.”

Google+ responded with “We’re delighted to be underestimated.  It’s served us very well to date.”

Linkmedia 360 attends fall BIA/Kelsey conference in Denver

Last month, Linkmedia 360’s Cindy Adamek, attended the BIA/Kelsey  Directional Media Strategies 201 conference in Denver, Colorado. The conference was entitled “The Summit of Small Business Advertising Solutions.” There were a wide array of presenters from the print publishing, digital and marketing worlds including ATT, DexOne, Telemetrics, Facebook, Urbanspoon, Wildfire and Groupon just to name a few. The keynote speaker was the former CEO of Yellowbook, Jack Walsh. The 3 day conference was jam-packed with ideas on how the directional marketing world is changing on a daily basis. The conference held panel discussions on such topics as performance media, mobile, the shift in advertising focus to SMB (Small/Medium Businesses) and the social and local impact on marketing for the future.

The conference had two recurring themes: the mobile advertising explosion and local based advertising for SMB. Mobile advertising (including search, display and SMS text) will keep growing in the coming years. Emarketer just released their projections on mobile advertising spend for the next 3 years. Businesses need to make sure that their websites are mobile friendly. Currently, only 1.25% of the over 200 million websites online are mobile friendly. As more and more people get smartphones, it is pertinent that a business has a mobile presence.  There is a great opportunity with the click to call option on mobile websites for such industries as pizza, transportation and auto repair industries.

Tracking and selling locally to SMB is key to the future of directional media marketing. Traditional media (print, TV, radio) placement is declining, while digital advertising is growing and projected to grow 15% by 2015. Local targeting is essential to find out why a mobile user is searching. But, don’t forget about the context of the advertising for the relevance of the consumer. This type of targeting involves local daily deals that are provided through sites such as Groupon and Living Social. As more people use smartphones, local targeting will increase.

The BIA/Kelsey conference was full of great information and networking opportunities. Linkmedia 360 looks forward to going to future conferences.
